Gripping the handlebars of a 2 or 4-seater UTV, you lean into the first turn on a trail carved through the karst region of Hacienda Campo Rico — 2,300 acres of subtropical forest that starts just 5 minutes outside the city. The terrain shifts under you: haystack mountains rise and fall, wetlands open up, and lagoons catch the light between the trees. Your guide leads the way, pointing out the flora and fauna as you move through different ecosystems, and you realize this isn't a manicured park loop. It's actual riding, on actual trails, with real elevation and real mud.

The whole thing runs about 2 hours from start to finish, though that includes a safety briefing at the Mojito Bar where you check in, a driving demonstration so you get the feel of the vehicle before heading out, and a couple of short rest stops along the way. You need a valid driver's license to operate the UTV — learner's permits and IDs don't count — and you have to be at least 16. If you're bringing kids, they can ride as passengers from age 8 onward, so it's not just a solo thing.
