The experience
You're picked up from your San Juan hotel and driven to Hacienda Campo Rico, a working ranch spread across 2,200 acres. Once there, you meet your guide, get a safety briefing and learn how to operate the 4x4 ATV before you ride. The terrain shifts as you go. You'll navigate hills, mangroves, lagoons and tropical fields, watching for wildlife along the trails. The guide leads the way and sets the pace.
Midway through the ride, you stop at Mi Casa, a traditional Spanish sugarcane plantation estate home built on the property. There's time to take photos and hear the history of the ranch and the land. You also stop at the horse stables to learn about the Paso Fino horse, a breed with deep roots here. Both stops break up the riding and give you a sense of what the ranch is beyond the trails.
The ride ends at the Mojito Bar, a hilltop watering hole where you can sit down, cool off and order drinks. Your complimentary virgin piña colada is on the house. From there, your driver takes you back to your San Juan hotel. The whole experience runs about two hours from start to finish.
Is this one for you?Book this if you have a valid driver's license and want to control the machine yourself rather than ride as a passenger. The two-hour ride keeps the physical demand moderate while the guide handles navigation and safety. If you're staying outside Isla Verde, Condado, Miramar or Old San Juan, arrange transportation separately or request a quote for pickup from your location.
