The experience
You start at the Vilamoura Marina, one of Europe's largest, where you'll get fitted with a helmet and briefed on the Segway before the ride begins. The platform is motorized and self-balancing, so once you're upright on it, you move by leaning forward or back: no pedaling, no walking. Your guide leads the group along the promenade, passing the golden sands of Falésia and Quarteira beaches lit at night, then cruising the marina's waterfront where the bars and restaurants line the water.
Quarteira sits alongside Vilamoura but has kept its character as a working fishing village, so the contrast between the two is visible as you ride. The route stays on the promenade and paved paths, not on sand or uneven ground. The whole outing runs 1.5 hours, which covers the ride itself plus the two drinks: the first one before you mount the Segway, the second at one of the marina's bars after you finish.
The guide speaks your choice of English, Spanish, Portuguese or French and stays with the group throughout. Public transportation is available nearby if you need it to reach the starting point, and the activity suits all fitness levels since you're standing on a motorized platform rather than exerting yourself to move.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
What exactly is a Segway and how do I control it?
A Segway is a two-wheeled, self-balancing electric platform you stand on upright. You steer by leaning forward to go faster or backward to slow down, and turn by shifting your weight side to side. The guide will brief you before the ride starts, so you'll know how to operate it before the group sets off.
Do I need any experience or special fitness to ride a Segway?
No experience is required, and the activity suits all fitness levels. You're standing on a motorized platform that does the work, not walking or cycling, so it's accessible to most people. The guide will make sure you're comfortable before the group begins.
What is Quarteira like compared to Vilamoura?
Quarteira is a traditional fishing village that has stayed much as it was 60 years ago, while Vilamoura evolved into a modern resort with upscale restaurants, bars and a world-class marina. Riding between them at night lets you see both sides of the Algarve coast in one trip.
Are the drinks alcoholic, and when do I have them?
One drink is non-alcoholic and served before the tour starts. The other is alcoholic and served after you finish riding, at one of the marina bars. Both are included in the price.
How many people will be on the tour?
A minimum of two people per booking is required, so groups can range from small pairs to larger groups. Your guide will be with you throughout.
