The experience
You start with hotel pickup in Lisbon and a van transfer to Sintra, arriving ready to ride. The e-bike does the heavy lifting on the steep forest paths. You steer and enjoy the pace. The route threads through Sintra's lush terrain to Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira, two of Portugal's most recognizable landmarks, then climbs to Peninha for views that stretch across the region. Bottled water and a helmet come with the bike. Lunch happens during the ride.
After nearly two hours of riding, you reach Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe, where the land drops to the Atlantic. The route then swings inland through Quinta do Pisão, a nature reserve where the pace slows, and past Guincho Beach before rolling into Cascais. The final leg takes you through Cascais's streets to the train station, where you board back to Lisbon. Total time on the road and bike is seven to eight hours, including the van transfer at the start.
The e-bike is the difference here: Sintra's hills are real, and the electric assist lets you cover ground that would exhaust a regular bike, so you arrive at each stop with energy left to look around. Small groups mean the guide can adjust the pace and point out details without rushing. You'll need at least moderate fitness and a height of 160 cm or more to fit the bike. The operator can arrange a basket for small pets up to 10 kg if you ask when booking.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Italian and Portuguese.
What's the difference between the Sintra loop and the Sintra to Cascais option?
The Sintra loop stays in the hills and returns to your starting point. The Sintra to Cascais route continues to the coast and ends at Cascais train station for the ride back to Lisbon. Both cover Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, and Cabo da Roca, but the Cascais option adds the coastal stretch and the charming town at the end.
How steep are the hills, and will the e-bike really handle them?
Sintra's terrain is steep enough that a regular bike would be hard work, especially after a full morning of riding. The e-bike's electric motor powers you up the climbs so you pedal at a comfortable pace and don't arrive at viewpoints exhausted. You still pedal: the motor assists, not replaces your effort.
What is Cabo da Roca actually like when you get there?
Cabo da Roca is a dramatic clifftop at Europe's westernmost point where the land ends and the Atlantic begins. The ride takes nearly two hours to reach it from Sintra, and the stop lets you take in the open ocean views and the scale of the landscape before heading back inland toward Cascais.
Is lunch included, and when does it happen?
Lunch is included and happens during the ride, so you eat at a natural stopping point rather than at a fixed restaurant. Bottled water comes with the bike, and the guide leads the group through the day's rhythm.
