The experience

You show up to Boiler Studio in downtown Porto with a free afternoon and no tile-painting experience, and that is exactly the setup this workshop expects. Over two hours, the guide walks you through the history of Portuguese tiles (why they matter to the country, who influenced the tradition, which colors dominate Porto's tilework), and then you pick up a brush. The technique is designed so you can take the finished tile home the same day instead of waiting for firing or glazing elsewhere. All materials are provided. You just paint.

Cocktails arrive during the class. The Porto Tónico is the local signature, but the menu ranges to champagne and other choices, so you sip something you actually want while you work. The point is not to rush through. It is to relax, meet other people in the room, and make something you will remember because you made it. The tile becomes the souvenir, not a postcard bought at the airport.

The studio is wheelchair accessible, and infants can sit on an adult's lap or ride in a pram. If your group is larger than the standard class size, contact the support team at least 24 hours ahead to check availability. The guides speak English and Portuguese, so language is not a barrier.
