The Experience

The tour starts at the meeting point and moves toward the Atlantic, passing through Pérgola—a promenade inspired by Nice's seafront—where you get a panoramic view of Porto's beaches. From there you reach Castelo do Queijo in Matosinhos, where the beach sits directly against the castle and the Matosinhos port spreads beyond it. The ride then turns inland through City Park, Porto's largest at 90 hectares, where cork oaks and open space break up the urban landscape. This first half is mostly flat and lets you settle into the e-bike's rhythm.

The second half moves back toward the river and the historic core. You pass through Parque da Pasteleira, which sits on what was once a water reservoir, then reach Massarelos Church with its tile panels depicting Prince Henry the Navigator. The Arrábida Bridge appears next—built in 1963 and once the world's largest reinforced concrete arch bridge—and from there you descend to Cais de Gaia, where you see the Luís I bridge, the Port wine cellars across the water, and the oldest neighborhoods stacked on the hillside. Miragaia, once a fisherman's quarter and home to Porto's Jewish community, sits just above the waterfront here.

The tour ends at São Francisco Church, arguably Porto's most ornate church, with its lavish gold leaf interior and the city's largest catacombs beneath it. The e-bike motor handles hills and longer stretches, so the 2 hours of actual cycling time breaks into manageable sections with pauses for the guide's stories and for you to take in each stop. A helmet, liability insurance and personal accident coverage come with the bike rental.
