The Experience

The tour starts at the top of Avenida dos Aliados, Porto's largest avenue, and descends from there into the neighborhoods where the city actually began. You'll walk past the Carmo Convent (standing next to what locals call Porto's narrowest house), through the old university quarter where students have their own rituals and legends, and into Jardim da Cordoaria, a garden that holds a particular place in how Porto's residents see their own city. The guide shares local tips as you move, not just facts from a book — stories about centenary cafes, why certain streets matter, what the city looked like before.

You'll see the Clérigos Tower, probably Porto's most photographed monument after the bridge itself, and stand at the Vitória viewpoint in the old Jewish quarters for one of the city's best views.
