The experience
The tour starts at Ingrina Beach and heads toward Barranco Beach, a remote stretch of coast difficult to reach by foot. Once there, you push out into calm, clear water to begin paddling through a series of sea caves and grottos carved into light-colored limestone. Your guide points out the ruins of a 17th-century fortress visible across the water and explains the landscape as you move through each cave. If you want to, you can jump from the rocks between paddles.
You handle the kayak yourself throughout. The guide is there to lead the route, share local knowledge and keep everyone safe, not to paddle for you. The water stays shallow and protected, which is why it stays calm even when the open sea beyond looks rough. Your guide carries a camera and photographs you paddling, exploring and jumping. Those images get sent to you after the tour ends, so you have a record of the day beyond what your own phone can capture from the water.
All equipment is included: kayak, paddle, wetsuit and lifejacket. Bring a towel and wear shoes you don't mind getting wet. The tour runs in English, Spanish or Portuguese depending on your guide. If you can't swim but want to go, let the operator know in advance so they can take extra precautions and adjust the route if needed.

Is this one for you?You paddle the kayak yourself in a small group led by a local guide, so this suits anyone who wants to be active on the water rather than watch from a boat. The 2.5-hour pace and calm, protected waters work for most fitness levels, though it's not suitable if you have spinal injuries, cardiovascular concerns or a fear of open water.
