The experience
Benagil Caves is the centerpiece: a massive sea cave carved into the Algarve coastline that you reach by boat from the shore. The day starts with a jeep ride through mountain villages in either Monchique's Mountains or Alte's Mountain, depending on where you're staying. Along the way you'll taste organic marmalades and medronho, a local firewater, and other regional products that give you a sense of what the interior Algarve actually grows and makes. The jeep is driven by a professional guide who knows the back roads and the stories behind the stops.
After the village loop, you reach a winery where you settle in for wine tasting and snacks before heading to the coast. The boat cruise departs from there and takes you straight to Benagil Caves, where the cave mouth opens directly onto the water. You get time to swim in the clear water inside the cave itself. A rare chance to be inside one of the Algarve's most photographed landmarks rather than viewing it from a distance. Dolphins are spotted often enough that the operator mentions it as a real possibility, not a marketing promise.
Pickup is included from hotels across the Vilamoura area, stretching from Quarteira to Armação de Pêra on one end and from Carvoeiro to Alvor on the other. If your hotel falls outside these zones (between Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Lago, or between Lagos and Praia da Luz), there's an extra €40 fee paid directly to the driver. The tour wraps in the afternoon, with drop-off at the same pickup point.

What exactly is Benagil Caves and what do you do there?
Benagil Caves, or Algar de Benagil, is the most famous sea cave in the Algarve, with a massive arched opening that sits right at the waterline. You reach it by boat and get time to swim in the clear water inside the cave itself, something most visitors can't do from the shore.
