The experience

The tour starts with pickup in a 4x4 vehicle from your accommodation and heads into Serra de Santa Luzia, where the elevation opens panoramic views across the sea, beaches, mountains, rivers and valleys below. From there the route continues into Serra d'Arga, one of Alto Minho's most distinctive mountain areas. The drive itself reaches places inaccessible by standard car, so the landscape shifts as you climb.

A short walk follows along the river that rises in the middle of Serra d'Arga. The hike takes you past waterfalls and ponds fed by clear water, moving through dense biodiversity of native plants and wildlife. The lagoons are deep enough to swim in, and the water stays cold and transparent year-round. Your guide points out the fauna and flora as you walk, explaining the ecology of the river system and the rare species that live here.

The tour includes a live guide in English, Spanish, Portuguese or French; photos and video of the day; and travel insurance. Children from age 2 are welcome. The half-day format leaves the afternoon free for other activities in the region.
