The experience
The tour starts with pickup from your hotel, apartment, or cruise port in Gdańsk, Gdynia, or Sopot. Your guide meets you there and drives you first through Gdynia, where you see Świętojańska Street from the car: the main thoroughfare of this seaside city. From there, the route moves into Gdańsk's Old Town, where you step inside St. Mary's Church, one of the largest brick churches in the world, to explore its grand interior. Your guide shares the city's medieval history, its role in Baltic maritime trade, and its significance during World War II as you walk through the Long Market, lined with colorful tenement houses.
The Motława River embankment is where you see the historic Crane, a symbol of Gdańsk's port heritage, and you pass the Neptune Fountain and Old Town Hall. Then the car takes you to Oliwa, a quieter district where the Oliwa Archcathedral holds a 20-minute organ concert: one of the tour's highlights. Afterward, you walk through Oliwa Park, a green space where you can step back from the city. The final stop is Sopot, a resort town where you see the Krzywy Domek (Crooked House), one of Poland's most photographed buildings, and Kuracyjny Square, which overlooks the beach and pier. Your guide shares stories about Sopot's laid-back character before the return drive to your starting point.
The guide is fluent in your choice of language: English, German, Polish, Russian, Spanish, French, Italian, Norwegian, or Swedish. Private transfers between the three cities are included, as is entry to St. Mary's Church and the organ concert. The tour runs 9 hours total. Lunch can be arranged on request if you want to eat during the day.
