The experience

The golf cart leaves from your hotel or a central pickup point and moves through the old town at a pace that lets you take in the sights without rushing between them. You pass the Neptune Fountain, the symbol everyone photographs, then move into the heart of the historical center: the 14th-century Main Town Hall, Arthur's Court where medieval merchants once gathered, and Long Market Square. The Renaissance Green Gate, the Old Prison Tower, and the Golden Gate mark the route as your guide explains what each building was and why it matters to the city's story.

The tour reaches St. Mary's Church, the largest Gothic brick building in the world, and the Royal Chapel with its distinctive dome: the only one of its kind in Gdansk's center. You'll see St. Bridget's Church, where the Solidarity leaders sheltered during martial law, and its amber altar, which is larger than the legendary Amber Room. The route also takes in the Great Mill, now the amber museum, and several other churches that survived or were rebuilt after World War II. The cart moves toward the Solidarity Square and the Gdansk Shipyard, where Solidarity was founded in 1980, and passes the Museum of the Second World War.
