The experience

The whale sharks arrive in Oslob's shallow waters year-round, and you enter the water to snorkel alongside them at close range. The guide will remind you not to touch their sensitive skin, but the proximity is real. You'll see their size and movement without the barrier of a boat. After an hour or so in the water, you travel inland toward Badian, crossing into a different landscape entirely.

The trek to Kawasan Falls is short, 20 to 30 minutes through forest, and lands you at a series of natural rock formations where water cascades into pools. Lunch happens here, and the rest of the afternoon is yours to swim, rest or explore the area. The total day runs 8 to 10 hours from pickup at your hotel to drop-off at SM Traveller's Lounge.

Snorkel equipment is provided, along with bottled water throughout the day. The vehicle is air-conditioned for the long drive, which gives you time to rest between the two water stops. If canyoneering interests you, that option exists but is separate from the standard itinerary.
