The experience
The tour opens in Lima with a walk through the Historical Center, a UNESCO site anchored by the Convent of Santo Domingo (home to the oldest university in the Americas), and the Cathedral, before moving to the Larco Museum to see gold artifacts, textiles and ceramics from pre-Hispanic Peru. The next morning you fly to Cusco and spend the afternoon in the city itself: the Plaza de San Cristóbal for a view over the rooftops, the San Pedro Market to see what locals buy, the Qorikancha Temple with its gold-covered walls, and the Twelve Angled Stone in the artisans' quarter of San Blas.
Days three and four push into the archaeological sites that ring Cusco. Sacsayhuaman is a massive citadel of colossal stone blocks set into the landscape. The same day includes Q'enqo, an Inca shrine carved into rock, and Tambomachay, a ceremonial bath. Day four takes you into the Sacred Valley to Pisac, one of the most intact Inca villages, where you walk the terraces and the colonial town below, then visit the Inkariy Museum and the Yucay Live Culture Center to watch weavers, potters and herders work with llamas and alpacas. Day five covers the Moray terraces (a series of concentric rings the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory for different climates), and the Maras salt mines, where hundreds of white evaporation pools sit against rust-colored earth. You end the day at Ollantaytambo, the last inhabited Inca village, before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes.
Day six is Machu Picchu itself. A bus climbs a winding road above the Urubamba River canyon to the site, where you walk the terraces, staircases and ceremonial plazas. The operator assigns you one of three visitor circuits (route 2 is the priority, with routes 3B or 1B as alternatives) each designed to spread visitors across different areas of the ruins. Lunch is included. You return by train to Cusco that afternoon. Day seven is a transfer to the airport.

Do I need to book my own flight from Lima to Cusco?
Yes, you book your own domestic flight. The operator asks that you book a morning arrival in Cusco because the first tour of the city begins at 1:30 p.m. You'll need to provide your flight itinerary at the time of booking so the operator can coordinate your airport pickup and hotel transfer.
What are the Moray terraces, and why are they on this tour?
Moray is a series of concentric circular terraces built by the Incas as an agricultural laboratory. The rings sit at different elevations and were used to recreate roughly 20 different microclimates, allowing the empire to test which crops thrived in which conditions. It's one of the most visually striking sites in the Sacred Valley.
How does Machu Picchu's new visitor circuit system work?
Machu Picchu now uses three main routes to distribute visitors across different areas of the site and reduce crowding. Route 2 is assigned as the priority. If it's not available, you'll be offered route 3B or 1B instead. The operator confirms your assigned circuit before your entrance tickets are issued, so you know which route you'll walk before you arrive.
What's the difference between the accommodation options?
The tour is offered in Tourist, Deluxe and First Class categories, with single, double or triple room options depending on the class. Can I change my Machu Picchu visit date after booking?
