A 10-day guided tour of Peru's major archaeological and cultural sites, starting in Lima and moving through the Nazca Lines, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. The itinerary includes nine nights of accommodation, all ground transfers, a Nazca Lines overflight, visits to Sacsayhuaman and Q'enqo, pisco and wine tastings at Tacama winery, and guided entry to Machu Picchu with lunch. A live guide in English or Spanish leads the group through colonial plazas, museums, and Inca ruins across the 10 days. Machu Picchu tickets follow the site's new visitor circuits and are non-refundable. Domestic flights between Lima and Cusco are booked separately.

The experience

The tour opens in Lima with a day to settle in, then moves into the city's colonial core: the Cathedral, Santo Domingo Convent, and the Larco Museum, where you walk through rooms of pre-Hispanic gold, textiles, and pottery. A pisco tasting in a traditional tavern and the Magic Water Circuit, a park of 13 illuminated fountains, round out the Lima portion before you fly south to Paracas.

The Nazca Lines are the centerpiece of day three. You board a small plane (capacity 12 passengers) and fly over the massive geoglyphs (a monkey, hummingbird, condor, spider) etched into the desert floor and visible only from above. The same day includes a visit to the Huacachina Oasis, ringed by sand dunes and palm trees. Day four takes you inland to Tacama winery, operating since 1540, where you tour the vineyard, cellar, and a handcrafted pisco operation called El Catador, then return to Lima.

From Lima you fly to Cusco (morning arrival required), where the altitude sits at 11,000 feet. The city tour covers the Korikancha temple, the "Gold Enclosure", and the Twelve Angle Stone on Hatun Rumiyoc street, a feat of Inca masonry. Day six takes you to Sacsayhuaman, a fortress of colossal stone blocks with views across the valley, then to Q'enqo, where a sacrificial altar sits inside a rock cave, and finally to Tambomachay. The Sacred Valley days include Awanacancha (where you feed llamas and alpacas), the Pisac archaeological site and market, Moray's concentric terraces (built to recreate 20 microclimates for crop testing), and the white salt mines of Maras. Ollantaytambo, an Inca town still inhabited, comes with lunch.

Machu Picchu arrives on day nine. You board a bus up the winding road above the Urubamba River canyon and enter the Lost City with a guide. The site's new visitor circuits (routes 1B, 2, or 3B) distribute passengers across different areas. Route 2 is prioritized, but the operator will confirm your assigned circuit before tickets are issued. Lunch is at a restaurant on site, and you return to Cusco by evening. The final day is a transfer to the airport for departure.

Route 2 is given priority, but if unavailable, you will be offered circuit 3B or 1B and asked to confirm before tickets are issued. Machu Picchu admission tickets are non-refundable. Date changes and amendments are not accepted. If you need to change your visit date, you must purchase a new ticket.

When do I need to book my Lima-to-Cusco flight, and why does timing matter?

You book your own domestic flight from Lima to Cusco separately. The flight must arrive by noon on day five. A later arrival will not work with the itinerary.
