Step-by-step itinerary

Zipline and waterfall adventure

  • Climb 1200 meters hill El Macho
  • Zipline over 6 canopy stations
  • Observe local birds and animals
  • Swim in natural pool by waterfall

The experience

The waterfall El Macho sits at the bottom of an old crater in Anton Valley, and the zipline course runs directly above it. You start by climbing the 1200-meter hill, then descend across 6 canopy stations that let you move through the air over the water. The lines are spaced to give you views of the surrounding landscape and the chance to spot birds and other animals that live in the area. An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up and brings you to the site, and a guide in English, Spanish or French walks you through the setup and safety before you clip in.

After you finish the zipline stations, you drop down to the natural pool at the base of the waterfall and swim in water fed directly from Chorro el Macho. The whole experience takes about 8 hours from pickup. Bottled water and all landing and facility fees are included, so there's no hidden cost once you arrive. The activity runs year-round because the crater keeps the temperature cool even when the rest of Panama is hot.

What’s included

  • Bottled water.
  • landing and facility fees.
  • air-conditioned vehicle pickup and return.

Is this one for you?Groups of 4 or more work best here, since that's the minimum to run the activity. The 8-hour commitment and the 1200-meter climb suit travelers who are comfortable with sustained physical effort and want a full-day immersion in the crater landscape rather than a quick stop.
