Watch dolphins at sea, then dive into coral reefs teeming with fish

Dolphin watching and snorkeling activity in Muscat combines two experiences on one boat: captains scout the waters to locate dolphins (Bottlenose, Spinner, Risso's and Common varieties), then take you to snorkel coral beds filled with tropical fish and sea turtles. The 3-hour outing includes all snorkeling gear, bottled water, snacks and pickup; a live guide speaks English and Arabic.

The Experience

The boat departs with your captain already knowing where dolphins have been spotted that morning—they scout the area before you board so the search isn't guesswork. Once dolphins appear, you watch from the deck while the captain keeps the boat at a safe distance. The sighting itself takes up the first part of the activity, and timing depends on where the pods are moving that day.

After dolphin watching, the boat heads to coral reefs where the snorkeling begins. You'll be in the water over beds that hold a variety of tropical fish, and if conditions align, sea turtles. The coral itself is the structure—it's what creates the habitat for everything you're looking at below the surface. Snorkeling equipment is provided and fitted before you enter the water.

The boat carries restrooms and stays on the water for the full 3 hours. Soda, bottled water and snacks are available throughout, so you're not managing hunger or thirst between activities. Pickup is included, which means the logistics of getting to the dock are handled; you show up at the arranged time and the rest unfolds from there.

Top questions

What kinds of dolphins might I see in Muscat waters?

Bottlenose, Spinner, Risso's and Common Dolphins inhabit the Gulf of Oman, though sightings depend on where the pods are moving on the day you go out. The captain scouts before departure to improve the odds.

Do I need snorkeling experience to join this activity?

The activity suits all physical fitness levels. Snorkeling equipment is provided and fitted on the boat, so you don't need to own or know how to assemble it yourself.

What happens if we don't see dolphins?

The captain searches the area as part of the standard route, but dolphin sightings are not guaranteed—they depend on where the animals are that day. The snorkeling portion of the activity proceeds regardless.

Is this activity accessible for people with mobility concerns?

The boat and all areas on board are wheelchair accessible, and transportation to the dock is included. Infants and small children can travel in a pram or stroller, and infants ride on an adult's lap during the boat portion.

How long does the snorkeling part last?

The full activity runs 3 hours total, split between dolphin watching and snorkeling. The exact time spent in the water depends on conditions and how the captain divides the outing.

What's included in the price?

Snorkeling equipment, bottled water, snacks, soda, all fees and taxes, and pickup are included. You bring only a swimsuit and towel.
