The experience

The miniature world sits five minutes' walk from Rotterdam Central Station, built around the city's story: the 1940 bombardment, the reconstruction, the drive to innovate that still shapes it. As you move through the 600 square meters, you encounter vast rural landscapes filled with windmills and typical Dutch villages, then Rotterdam itself (both modern and historical), centered on the largest indoor miniature port in Europe. A third section devoted to Great Britain is still under development but already open to visitors. The detail rewards close looking: intercity express trains speed to their destinations, lorries move cargo to and from the miniature harbour, and the scenes shift constantly.

In Miniworld a day lasts 24 minutes. When night falls, tens of thousands of tiny lights sparkle across the entire landscape. The indoor setting means the weather never changes: air conditioning keeps it comfortable year-round, so you can linger without the constraints of an outdoor site. The space is wheelchair accessible throughout, and infants can ride in prams or strollers. Service animals are welcome.
