You'll see the Oostpoort, the only remaining city gate, and stop at courtyards tucked away from the main streets — the Klaeuw courtyard, founded by a brewery owner as housing for unmarried Catholic women, and the courtyard at the horse market with its narrow streets and flower gardens. The pace is relaxed and sporty at once, so the day feels like discovery rather than exercise.

The route takes you to the Vermeer Centre, where the painters of Delft gathered and Johannes Vermeer spent time, and past Museum Prinsenhof, the former monastery where William of Orange lived for several years. You'll pass through the Agneta Park, laid out by a factory director for his employees, and see the only remaining city mill in Delft. A recreation area with woods, swimming pools and restaurants sits directly at the center if you want to linger. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one of two other languages, and children from age 8 can join.
