The experience
The journey starts early from Kathmandu with a tourist bus ride to Pokhara, a 827-meter-high lake city ringed by the Annapurna range. The route passes through green hills, terraced fields and white-water rivers. You arrive in time to walk the Lakeside area in the evening, staying near enough to explore on foot from your hotel.
Day two is the exploration day. A private vehicle and English-speaking driver take you to Fewa Lake, where you can choose to boat on the water or skip it and spend more time elsewhere. You'll see Davis Fall, where water from the lake drops directly into the earth, then visit Gupteshwor Cave, an underground cavern where the same water reappears and is worshipped as a shrine to Lord Shiva. The day ends with a short hike to Peace Stupa for views over Pokhara. The itinerary is flexible: if boating doesn't appeal, the driver adjusts the stops to match your interests.
On day three, the bus returns you to Kathmandu or another destination of your choice. The package includes two nights in a budget standard hotel with breakfast, hotel pickup and drop-off within Kathmandu's Ring Road, and all transport between the cities. Lunch and dinner are on your own, as are entrance fees to any attraction sites.
