The experience
The tour starts with arrival in Kathmandu and a night at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza, then heads south toward Chitwan with a morning rafting run on the Trishuli River before lunch. The drive into the jungle takes the afternoon, and an evening walk lets you adjust to the terrain. Two full days in Royal Chitwan National Park follow: a jeep safari and bird watching in the morning, a canoe ride down the river, and a visit to a Tharu village with a cultural program at night.
From Chitwan, the route turns west to Pokhara, where you spend two nights. An early drive to Sarangkot catches the sunrise over the Annapurna massif and Machhapuchhre, then the day moves through Bindabasini Temple, Davi's Fall, Gupteshwar Cave and the Seti River Gorge. The next morning you drive to Dhampus and hike into Australian Camp, a tea house lodge set among villages and terraced farms in the foothills: described as a taste of trekking in the Himalaya without the high altitude. A day of rest or optional trekking follows before the return drive to Pokhara.
The final stretch is a six-hour drive back to Kathmandu, with a farewell dinner featuring Nepali cuisine and dancing. On the last morning, a city guide leads sightseeing at Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Durbar Square before checkout and airport transfer. Every night is in a 5-star hotel. All breakfasts, lunches and dinners are included except for meals not listed in the itinerary. A live guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French throughout, and all transport is by air-conditioned vehicle.
