The experience

The fishing happens on the Zambezi itself. You're on the water each morning after breakfast, working the river with an expert guide who knows the best spots. Tiger fish and catfish are the main target, though you'll also have chances at tilapia, nambwe and other species. All catches go back, so the river stays healthy. Fishing tackle and the boat are provided. If you lose or damage equipment, you cover the replacement cost. Lunch breaks fall between noon and 3 p.m., timed to the heat of the day, and you eat at the camp restaurant at your own expense.

Every afternoon, 1.5 hours before sunset, the camp runs a complimentary boat cruise with light snacks and drinks. These aren't fishing trips. They're a chance to drift and watch the light change on the water. Days 2 through 5 follow the same rhythm: fish, break, fish again, then the cruise. Day 4 gives you the option to skip fishing and try other camp activities instead, though those cost extra. On your final morning (Day 6), you get one last fishing session before the guide transfers you back to Katima Mulilo Airport.

Accommodation is at Zambezi Mubala Camp for all six nights. Breakfast is included each day. Dinner is at your own cost (around USD 20), and so are any drinks from the bar. The guide speaks English and also drives, so there's one person handling both the fishing instruction and the logistics. Return transfers from the airport are included on arrival and departure.
