The experience

You get picked up and climb into a stylish tuk-tuk for a three-hour ride through Rabat's main sights. The route starts at the Andalusian Gardens, a peaceful spot with fountains and planted grounds, then moves to the Kasbah of the Udayas: a fortified quarter with historical architecture and gardens overlooking the Bou Regreg River. You pass the modern marina, then stop at the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the royal burial site built in authentic Moroccan style, and Hassan Tower, the unfinished 12th-century minaret that stands as one of Morocco's most recognizable landmarks.

The driver navigates the old medina's narrow, winding streets lined with traditional shops and handicraft stalls, pointing out the historical gates and mosques that blend Islamic and Andalusian design. You also pass the Royal Palace, surrounded by high walls and vast gardens. Chellah, the Roman and Islamic archaeological site with ancient ruins and a traditional café, is on the route.
