The experience

You ride your own quad from the start. An experienced instructor meets you, teaches the basics of quad biking so you can handle the machine safely, then adapts the pace and terrain to your skill level as you go. This is not a guided tour where you watch from a vehicle. You control the throttle and the line through each section of the route.

The ride takes you across Essaouira's beach first, where the sand is packed and the Atlantic is close. You stop at the Portuguese Borj to take pictures and break the rhythm. Then you move inland through a pine forest where cows, goats and dromedaries graze among the trees. The final stretch crosses into the dunes, where the terrain shifts and the riding changes. Helmet, jacket and gloves are supplied. You bring moderate fitness and a willingness to sit on a machine you've just learned to operate.

Free pickup from your hotel is included. The instructor speaks English, French or Arabic depending on the group. Children from age 2 can ride with an adult on the same quad, and infants can travel in a pram or stroller if you prefer not to ride.
