The Experience
The day starts with pickup from your Marrakech hotel at 8 am and a 2.5-hour drive through the Atlas Mountains to Ouzoud. Once you arrive, a local guide takes you through the green valley and shady orchards that surround the falls, crossing past traditional water mills and stopping to meet Berbers living in the mountains. The landscape opens up as you approach the waterfall itself — a 360-foot plunge that forms rainbows in the mist as the water falls and bounces back up.
Walking to the top of the falls, you'll encounter families of Barbary macaques, the indigenous monkeys that make their home here and are accustomed to visitors. The boat ride is included as part of the tour, giving you a different angle of the falls from the water below. Lunch happens at one of the local restaurants scattered along the stream, where you can sit with views of the waterfall and order from their Tagine menu at your own cost.
The return drive to Marrakech takes another 2.5 hours, with drop-off at your hotel or the nearest accessible point late in the afternoon. The air-conditioned vehicle and local guide stay with you the entire day, so the route, timing and stops are all arranged.
What’s included
- Hotel pickup and drop-off in Marrakech.
- air-conditioned vehicle for the full day.
- local guide in English, Spanish or French.
- complimentary boat ride at the base of the falls.
