The experience

The Agafay Desert sits close enough to Marrakech for a half-day outing, but far enough that the landscape shifts into something stark: stone, not sand, with canyons that stay green where water runs. You get a safety briefing and equipment check, then head out on your own quad following trails the guide marks. The terrain moves between open desert floor and narrow stone passages. The guide leads the way and can show experienced riders their favorite tracks if the group keeps pace.

A stop in a small village breaks the ride. You stretch your legs, drink hot tea, and see the mud-brick walls and hammams that have stood for centuries in a landscape where little else grows. The aridity shapes everything: the color of the earth shifts through shades of red as the light moves. On the way back, the guide takes you to a hilltop for views across the desert before the return to Marrakech. The whole outing runs roughly four to five hours with the ride itself lasting about an hour and a half.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, and a guide travels with the group in English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language. Children ages 10–15 must ride as passengers with an adult on a shared ATV. Riders 16 and older can operate their own machine. A minimum of two people is required to book.
