The experience

The day starts at 9:00am in Chefchaouen, where you meet Morad, your guide. A private taxi takes you 45 minutes through the Rif Mountains to Akchour, a valley carved by river and forest. From there, the hike begins on a trail that follows the water, with mountain views opening up as you walk deeper into the landscape.

At the start of the hike, you pick your route. The first leads to God's Bridge, a famous natural rock arch standing above the valley: about 45 to 60 minutes of walking to reach it. The second follows the river deeper into Akchour, passing several small waterfalls and natural pools where the water pools and flows clear. This route takes around 2 hours and ends near the Big Waterfall. Both trails stay on the river path, so the terrain and the water are constants. What changes is how far upstream you go and what you encounter along the way.

Partway through, you stop to drink traditional Moroccan tea in the forest, sitting with the sound of the river and the mountains around you. The guide brings everything needed. You simply sit and drink. When the hike is done, the private taxi returns you to Chefchaouen. The whole experience (transport, hike, tea and return) takes about 5 to 6 hours.
