The experience

The route starts at Errachidia airport and moves south through Ziz Valley, where the road cuts between lush palm groves and canyon walls above the river. You stop to take in the scale of it (the valley is the reason this route exists), then pass through Erfoud before the landscape opens into sand. At sunset you reach the edge of Erg Chebbi and ride camels into the dunes as the light turns gold, then settle into either Nasser Palace Suits & Spa (a hotel at the dune edge with a pool) or Imperial Glory Lodges Lux Camp (a private tent on the other side of the dunes, with its own bathroom). Dinner is Berber cuisine and the night carries live Gnawa music.

Day two is built around people and the desert they live in. You visit nomad families in Tamerdanit to see how they actually live, then head to Khamlia village for more Gnawa music performed by local musicians. The afternoon is yours to choose: ride camels again, try quad biking across the dunes, sandboard down the slopes, or simply rest. Dinner and the evening show happen back at camp, with musicians playing drums and singing around the fire.

On day three, breakfast comes early and your driver takes you back to Errachidia airport for your onward flight. The return is a straight drive north through the same valley you crossed two days before, this time in daylight.
