The experience
Your guide picks you up and drives you along the coast toward Budva, the Adriatic's most famous destination. On the way, you'll stop to take in the sea and horizon before arriving at the Old Town: a small peninsula of narrow winding streets, historic buildings, and centuries-old churches clustered around the medieval Citadel. The fortress rises above the water and tells the story of Budva's turbulent past through the centuries. Your guide shares local legends and historical details as you walk, but the pace is relaxed: you have free time to sit with a coffee at Ricardova Glava beach, photograph the iconic Ballerina statue (which carries its own touching local story), or simply wander the squares and alleys on your own.
After half an hour's drive, you arrive at the clifftop overlook of Sveti Stefan. You can't walk onto the island itself (it's a private luxury hotel connected to the mainland by a narrow stone passage), but from above you see the whole picture. Every building on the island has its own history. The hotel has hosted celebrities for decades: in 1964, Life magazine named it one of the ten most exclusive hotels in the world, and guests have included Sophia Loren, Sylvester Stallone, Novak Djokovic, and David Beckham. Your guide explains the stories while you take photos and absorb the view.
The return follows the old Milocer road, once known as Queen's Park, passing the fishing village of Przno before heading back to your starting point. The whole tour runs about four and a half hours, with the route and pacing shaped around your interests and the time you want to spend at each stop.
