The experience
The Blue Cave sits in a remote corner of the Adriatic, which is why most visitors never see it. This tour solves that by running you out in a speedboat instead of the hours-long drive and ferry combination a car would demand. You get three hours total, with the boat doing the navigation while you watch the Bay of Kotor unfold: a UNESCO-protected stretch ranked among the 28 most beautiful bays in the world. The route passes Perast, a small town built into the coastline, and stops at Our Lady of the Rocks, an artificial island created centuries ago by sinking old ships loaded with stones to build a breakwater.
The Submarine Tunnels near the village of Rose are next: three tunnels built by the Yugoslav Army with fake rock coverings designed to hide them from satellites. Then comes Mamula Island, a former military fortress now sitting in crystalline water. When you reach the Blue Cave itself, you have free time to swim at your own pace. Snorkelling gear is on board, and the shimmering blue water inside the cave is the reason the detour exists.
Bottled water and soda are provided. WiFi is available on request. The boat is wheelchair accessible, and all areas are suitable for all fitness levels. A live guide speaks English or Croatian throughout.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Croatian.
What makes the Blue Cave so hard to reach on your own?
The Blue Cave sits along the rugged Luštica Peninsula coastline in a remote location, which is why the speedboat approach from Kotor is the practical way to visit. Driving there would take hours and involve multiple transfers. The boat cuts through the water directly.
How much time do you actually get to swim in the Blue Cave?
The tour runs three hours total, and you have free time to swim at your own pace once the boat reaches the cave. The exact duration depends on the day's schedule, but swimming is the main event at that stop.
What is Our Lady of the Rocks, and why is it on the route?
Our Lady of the Rocks is one of two islets off Perast in the Bay of Kotor. It's an artificial island built over centuries by sinking old ships loaded with rocks to create a breakwater, and it's one of the most recognizable landmarks in the bay.
Do you need to bring your own snorkelling gear?
No. Snorkelling equipment is included and provided on board, so you can jump in the water at the Blue Cave without packing anything extra.
Is this tour suitable if you have mobility concerns?
Yes. The speedboat is wheelchair accessible, all areas and surfaces on board are wheelchair accessible, and the tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels. Infants can ride in a pram or stroller, and service animals are allowed.
