The experience
The tour runs six to eight hours and moves by water, so you cover ground fast and reach spots inaccessible from shore. You start on Kotor Bay itself, passing ancient fishermen villages and steep vegetation along the coastline, then head to the Blue Cave at the Lustica peninsula. The cave's name comes from the light: sun rays crack through small openings in the rock and turn the water iridescent, an effect created over thousands of years by waves hitting the stone. You swim inside it.
After the cave, the boat makes a brief stop at Mamula Island, where a prison was built in 1853 and later used as a notorious camp during both world wars. Then you pull in to a fisherman's village for lunch. The afternoon includes swimming at Zanjice beach, one of the area's most photographed stretches of sand, and a pass through one of three submarine tunnels that hid and repaired vessels during the Second World War. The final stop is Our Lady of the Rocks, a man-made islet built on a crag where locals and seafarers constructed a church to honor the Holy Mother Mary. The church holds paintings, votives and other art. Entry costs a small fee. On the way back, you pass Perast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Venetian-era palazzi, churches and defensive towers.
Bottled water comes with the tour. The boat holds a maximum of ten passengers, so the group stays small. You choose between a fully private boat or the ten-person cap option at checkout.
What’s included
Bottled water is provided throughout the day.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Blue Cave actually like when you get there?
The Blue Cave is a natural chamber at the Lustica peninsula where sunlight enters through cracks in the rock and reflects off the water, creating an iridescent blue glow. You swim inside the cave. The light effect is strongest on clear days when the sun is high.
Can you actually swim and spend time in the water, or is it just a boat ride?
You swim at two stops: inside the Blue Cave and at Zanjice beach, where the tour includes dedicated swimming time. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the area and gives you a chance to get in the water for as long as the schedule allows.
What is Our Lady of the Rocks and why do people visit it?
Our Lady of the Rocks is a man-made islet built on a natural crag where locals and seafarers constructed a church to honor the Holy Mother Mary. The church houses paintings, votives and other art pieces, and visitors can learn the story of how the island was built. Entry to the church costs a small fee.
Does the tour include food, or do I need to bring my own?
The tour stops at a fisherman's village for lunch, but food and drinks are not included in the price. You order and pay separately at the village. Bottled water is provided on the boat.
How long is the tour, and what time does it start?
The tour runs six to eight hours. Specific start times and pickup details appear when you select your option at checkout.
