The experience
What does a private catamaran actually give you that a shared boat doesn't? Your own crew, your own schedule, and the space to move around without a crowd. You board at Puerto Aventuras Marina and cruise for roughly 35 minutes along the Riviera Maya coast before dropping anchor at La Bocana, a sheltered cove with calm water. The crew handles everything. They prepare fresh gourmet appetizers (crudités, guacamole, chips) and work the open bar while you decide whether to swim, float on a paddleboard, cast a fishing line, or simply sit with a drink and watch the water.
The open bar runs the full three hours: tequila, vodka, rum, whiskey, Mexican beer, soft drinks, water, juices and cocktails on ice. The crew's specialty is margaritas, and they're made fresh while you're aboard. Towels and life jackets come with the booking. Floaties and a paddleboard are available if you ask. A guide speaks English or Spanish throughout, and the boat has a restroom on board. If you need private transportation to or from the marina, you can add that at checkout.
La Bocana itself is the draw: protected waters mean no chop, so swimming is easy and the cove stays calm even when the open ocean doesn't. Snorkeling gear is available to rent separately. It's not part of the standard package. The whole day runs three hours from pickup to return, which means you can fit it around other plans without losing a full afternoon.

Is this one for you?The three-hour window means you can anchor at La Bocana and actually swim or paddle without rushing, which is what sets a private boat apart from a shared tour that has to keep moving to fit more stops into the day.
