The full experience runs about four hours and includes all scuba equipment and bottled water. Minimum age is 10 years old.

The experience

The day starts on land with theory (how your body responds to pressure, how the SCUBA unit works) followed by basic skills training in shallow water where you can stand. This ground work takes the mystery out of what happens next. Then a 10-minute boat ride carries you to a coral garden site, and you descend along a mooring line with your instructor, keeping the descent smooth and controlled. The reef itself becomes your classroom: you practice what you learned in the shallows while surrounded by the actual reef structure, with your instructor watching every move.

Dive time averages 43 minutes, though it depends on how much air you use: some divers stay down longer, others surface sooner, and that is normal. Maximum depth is 40 feet, set by safety standards for first-time divers. The mooring line descent means you are not fighting current or navigation. You are focused on the experience itself. All scuba equipment is included, so you show up without gear and leave without renting anything separately.

Public transportation options are available near the meeting point, so you do not need a rental car or a taxi negotiation to get there. What if I run out of air before 43 minutes?

Dive time depends on your air consumption, so 43 minutes is an average, not a guarantee. Your instructor watches your air supply constantly and will signal an ascent well before you run low. Surfacing early is completely normal and safe.

Do I need to bring my own scuba gear?

No. All scuba equipment is included with the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, so you arrive with just a swimsuit and leave without renting or buying anything. Bottled water is also provided.

How do I get to the dive site if I don't have a car?

Public transportation options are available near the meeting point, so you can reach the dive shop without a rental car. The boat ride to the reef site is included and departs from there.
