Take the helm through mangroves and past pirate ships, steering your own boat through Cancun's hidden waterways.

A 45-minute speed boat activity in Cancun where you captain your own boat through the Nichupté Lagoon, passing the Nichupté Bridge and replica pirate galleons while navigating mangrove channels. Groups of 2 to 4 people share one boat, with a bilingual guide on hand; the experience includes boat use and lagoon access. Choose between a private boat (Speedboat Single) or a shared departure (Express Shared) at checkout.

The Experience

You take the wheel for the full 45 minutes. The boat holds 2 to 4 people, and you steer through the turquoise channels of the Nichupté Lagoon, where mangroves line both sides and the water stays shallow enough to see the bottom. A bilingual guide is there to point out the wildlife and the landmarks — the Nichupté Bridge looms ahead, and you'll pass the replica pirate galleons anchored in the deeper water, the kind of stop where people stop to photograph.

The route takes you through the lagoon's natural channels, where herons, crocodiles and other animals move through the mangrove roots. The water is calm enough that steering is straightforward, even if you've never driven a boat before. On the return to the marina, the guide lets you open up the throttle and feel the speed — that's the payoff after the slower, careful navigation through the narrower sections.

Bilingual personalized attention means the guide speaks English and Spanish and stays with your group the whole time. Installations usage is included, so you're not paying extra to use the dock or the equipment. What you bring is a moderate level of fitness and comfort being on the water; the boat itself handles the rest.
