The experience
Chef Ari trained at restaurants in San Francisco, Bangkok, and Paris, then built a successful catering company and worked as a traveling chef by appointment. In her cooking class, you're learning from someone who has worked at that level. The three-hour session focuses on one complete meal: you'll make an authentic appetizer and an entrée together. Think flour tortillas and guacamole, molcajete sauce and ceviche for the starter, then enchiladas, chiles rellenos, or fish baja tacos for the main. The menu is customizable, so you can request dishes that match what you actually want to cook and eat.
The class runs in Chef Ari's home with views of the Pacific Ocean and Land's End visible in the distance. Groups of 4 to 10 work together, though smaller groups can arrange a class at your own home or villa if you prefer. The class is conducted in English or Spanish. Children from age 13 are welcome, and infants can attend if they sit on an adult's lap. If you book a mid-day slot, lunch is included. An evening class includes dinner. For an additional fee, Chef Ari can provide hand-made margaritas made with top-shelf 100% agave tequila and fresh-squeezed lime juice: roughly six margaritas per pitcher.
