The experience

Your guide picks you up from your hotel and heads inland toward Trou aux Cerfs volcano, where panoramic views open across lush valleys, volcanic craters and distant mountains. The route passes Mare aux Vacoas reservoir and the sacred crater lake at Grand Bassin before dropping down to Alexandra Falls, a cascade surrounded by dense tropical forest. By mid-morning you reach the Gorges Viewpoint in Black River Gorges National Park, where the landscape spreads into deep valleys and dramatic cliffs.

Chamarel Waterfall comes next: a 100-meter plunge into a green valley ringed by tropical forest. From there, a short walk takes you to the Seven Coloured Earth Geopark, where sand dunes display striking bands of red, brown, violet, blue and green: a natural phenomenon that photographs well from multiple angles. After a three-course meal (vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, with halal available), the day continues at La Vanille Crocodile Park, where you can stroll through lush gardens, see crocodiles and giant tortoises, and learn about the park's conservation work.
