The experience
Your hotel pickup starts the day, and the guide meets you in a fully air-conditioned vehicle for the drive south. The route takes in five stops across Mauritius's southwestern region, each one a different kind of landscape: a dormant volcano with crater views, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage lake, a national park gorge viewpoint, a 100-meter waterfall, and the geological oddity that gives the tour its name. The Seven Coloured Earth is a geopark where mineral-rich sand has settled into distinct bands of red, brown, purple and other hues across a slope. You walk among the dunes and photograph the layers. Chamarel Waterfall drops into tropical forest nearby, and the Black River Gorges National Park offers a panoramic viewpoint over the island's interior valleys.
Curious Corner sits between the natural sites and lunch. It opened in 2009 as an interactive attraction built around optical illusions and perception tricks: a tilted room, mirror mazes, and 3D art installations designed to confuse and amuse. Most visitors spend 30 to 45 minutes here playing with the exhibits and taking photos. The stop breaks up the day between geology and food, and it is the reason families and groups who might otherwise skip a "just looking" tour often book this one.
Lunch is a three-course meal at a restaurant in Chamarel Village, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available, and halal foods on request. A bottle of water comes with the tour. All entrance fees to the five sites are included. Gratuities for the guide are optional. The guide speaks your choice of English, Italian, French, German or Portuguese throughout the day.

What is the Seven Coloured Earth and why does it have so many colors?
The Seven Coloured Earth is a geopark in Chamarel where mineral-rich sand has settled into distinct colored bands (red, brown, purple and others) across a sloped landscape. The different hues come from the varying mineral composition of the sand deposits, creating a natural geological display you can walk through and photograph.
How long is the Chamarel Waterfall and what can you do there?
Chamarel Waterfall drops 100 meters into the lush tropical forest of southwestern Mauritius. Visitors walk nearby trails, photograph the cascade and the surrounding vegetation, and spend time in the peaceful forest setting. The waterfall itself is viewed from established viewpoints rather than approached directly.
What happens at Curious Corner and how much time do you spend there?
Curious Corner is an interactive attraction with optical illusions, tilted rooms, mirror mazes and 3D art installations designed to trick perception and create photo opportunities. Most visitors spend 30 to 45 minutes exploring the exhibits and taking pictures before moving on to lunch.
