The experience
The tour starts at Gris Gris, where the Indian Ocean hits rugged cliffs directly without the calm lagoons that ring most of the island. Waves crash against the rock face constantly, and a short walk leads to La Roche Qui Pleure, a natural formation where the impact creates the illusion of the cliff weeping. From there you move along the coast to Rivière Des Galets, a quieter stretch lined with volcanic rocks and forest shade, before reaching the World of Seashells Museum: one of Africa's largest private shell collections, with thousands of specimens from around the world on display.
The route then climbs to Macondé Viewpoint, perched on a sharp bend in the coastal road between Le Morne and Baie du Cap, where 360-degree views open over the turquoise lagoon and the Indian Ocean. You stop at La Prairie Beach, a calm stretch with soft sand and views of Le Morne Brabant mountain, then move to Le Morne Kite Lagoon, where the shallow turquoise water and consistent winds draw kite surfers from around the world: the lagoon sits against the UNESCO-listed Le Morne mountain and fills with colorful kites, especially on windy days. Lunch happens in La Gaulette village, a laid-back spot with local restaurants serving fresh grilled fish, seafood curries and Creole flavors. Vegetarian options are available on request.
After lunch you explore Ruisseau Créole, a lifestyle village with open-air shops, boutiques and cafés set among mountains and greenery, then end the day at Tamarin Public Beach on the west coast, known for its golden sand, surf culture and one of the island's best sunsets. The drive back to your hotel completes the loop. Your guide handles the route and commentary throughout. The vehicle is fully air-conditioned, and bottled water arrives with you at pickup.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and French.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (10 to 17 years); Child (4 to 9 years); Infant (1 to 3 years): free.
What is Gris Gris and why is it different from other Mauritius beaches?
Gris Gris is a dramatic cape on the untamed southern coast where powerful waves crash directly against rugged cliffs, fully exposed to the open Indian Ocean. Unlike the calm turquoise lagoons around most of Mauritius, it offers raw rocky coastlines, a natural phenomenon called La Roche Qui Pleure where waves hit rocks so the cliff appears to weep, and striking contrasts ideal for photography.
Can I watch kite surfers at Le Morne Kite Lagoon, or do I need to participate?
You can watch from the beach without joining in. Le Morne Kite Lagoon is one of the world's most famous kite surfing spots, with colorful kites filling the sky and surfers performing jumps over the shallow turquoise water. The tour includes time to relax on the beach, take photos and watch the activity. Professional kite schools operate there if you want lessons, but they are separate bookings.
What kind of lunch is included, and are vegetarian meals available?
Lunch is a Mauritian culinary experience served in La Gaulette village with fresh local food, typically grilled fish, seafood curries, chicken biryani, noodles and tropical salads prepared with Creole spices. Vegetarian options are available. Request your preference when booking, and inform the operator of any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
How long is the tour, and will it fit into one day with other activities?
The tour runs six to seven hours from pickup to drop-off. It leaves room for an early breakfast before departure or a late dinner after return, but fills most of a day. Plan other activities for the morning before pickup or the evening after drop-off.
Is the World of Seashells Museum included in the tour price?
Yes, entrance to the World of Seashells Museum is included. The museum houses one of Africa's largest private shell collections with thousands of rare, colorful specimens from around the world, and guides share information about marine life and shell formation during your visit.
