The Experience

The first thing that hit me was the cool morning air as we left Nairobi behind. Our driver, Peter, had this knack for pointing out little things along the Great Rift Valley—like the tiny roadside stalls selling roasted maize or the way the clouds cast shadows over Narok’s rolling hills. By midday, we rolled into Manyatta Camp just in time for lunch. The smell of grilled goat mingled with woodsmoke from nearby fires. Either way, leaving felt bittersweet—I kept thinking about those endless plains and how small you feel under that big sky.
