The Experience

The day starts before dawn. A driver picks you up from your Nairobi hotel or airport at 4am and heads south through the Great Rift Valley toward Maasai Mara National Park. The drive takes most of the morning, with a stop along the way for coffee and a bathroom break (at your own cost). Once you reach the reserve's main gate, a local guide meets you and takes over for the game drive itself.

The reserve sits in open grassland, and wildlife concentrates on the western escarpment where a 4x4 Landcruiser can reach it. You'll spend the afternoon spotting predators and other animals from the vehicle, with the guide calling out what moves in the grass and the distance. Lunch is at your own expense. After the game drive, you head back out of the reserve and begin the return journey to Nairobi, arriving at your hotel in the evening after roughly 12 hours away.

The private vehicle and guide are included; so are bottled water and all transport. Park entry fees are optional—they depend on the season and whether you choose to add them at checkout. A Maasai village visit is also available as an add-on if you want to spend time outside the reserve itself.
