The experience
The hike starts with pickup from your Dead Sea hotel at 8 am in a private air-conditioned vehicle driven by an English-speaking driver. The drive covers roughly 90 kilometers southwest toward Mujib Nature Reserve, the world's lowest natural reserve, where the Wadi Mujib gorge cuts through sandstone cliffs. You'll arrive at the visitor center where the Siq Trail begins, graded easy to moderate.
The trail itself is self-guided: you follow the river course toward the dam, wading through occasional pools that can reach waist-deep depending on water levels. The walk takes about an hour to reach the waterfall and the gorge's deepest point. If rainfall has been sufficient, you can swim in the pools before the return walk. The shade and cool water make this a natural break from the heat, especially during summer months.
After the hike, your driver returns you to your Dead Sea hotel. The full experience runs about 4 hours from pickup to drop-off. Bring a swimsuit, hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes. The tour operates April through October and closes on rainy days when water levels make the canyon unsafe.
