Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Yokohama night views and Chinatown
- View downtown Yokohama and Tokyo skyline
- See major buildings and Seabass boat dock
- Enjoy seaside shops and restaurants
- Visit Yokohama Chinatown and try local food
- Relax with night view of Minato Mirai
The experience
The tour starts with the downtown skyline and harbor lights, where on clear nights you can see the Tokyo skyline in the distance and sometimes Mount Fuji's silhouette. You'll walk past landmarks like the K Arena (the world's largest music venue), the Hilton, and corporate headquarters for Fujifilm, Yamaha, Sony and Nissan. The guide knows which vantage points work best for the time of year and adjusts the route based on what you want to see and how much walking feels right for you.
From there, the tour moves through the waterfront dining district where you can stop for ramen, ice cream or Hamburg steak if you want, then into Chinatown: the world's largest with over 200 restaurants. You can walk with steamed meat buns in hand or sit down for dim sum. Annin soft cream is a popular choice year-round. The final stretch is a 750-meter walk along the harbor with boats passing on one side and the Minato Mirai night view in front of you. Between September and March, you can also take a small boat called Seabass for about 15 minutes to see the harbor from the water. On select dates from October through March, a five-minute fireworks show lights up at 7pm.
The guide speaks English or Japanese and knows Yokohama well. Accidental insurance is included. Because the tour uses public transportation instead of a car, you'll move through the city at street level. If long walks are difficult, the guide can shorten distances and adjust stops so the evening still works for you.
