Step-by-step itinerary

Explore Yokohama's highlights

  • Visit traditional Japanese garden
  • Walk through Yamate Western-style houses
  • Stroll in Yamashita Park waterfront
  • Explore Yokohama Chinatown or tea ceremony
  • Visit Cup Noodles Museum
  • See panoramic views from Marine Tower
  • Enjoy ramen at guide's favorite spot

The experience

The tour runs five hours and moves at a discovery pace through neighborhoods within easy walking distance of each other. You decide which stops matter to you before the day starts: a peaceful Japanese garden with seasonal flowers and 900-yen entry; the Yamate district where British merchants and American diplomats built homes after Yokohama opened to the world in 1859, now a popular sightseeing spot for Japanese visitors; Yamashita Park's waterfront paths and bay views; or Yokohama Chinatown, where you can either join a Chinese tea ceremony at an authentic tea house or walk the lively lanes sampling street food from steamed pork buns to egg tarts. The guide knows the neighborhood and can suggest timing and combinations that fit what you want to see.

Two other options sit on the list: the Cup Noodles Museum, where you can create your own original cup noodles and learn the history of instant ramen (1000-yen admission), or Yokohama Marine Tower near the harbor, with an observation deck overlooking the port, city skyline, and Mount Fuji on clear days (1200-yen admission). Your guide can also take you to a favorite ramen spot: a chance to eat where locals do. Entrance fees to attractions, meals, and public transportation are separate from the tour price.

The guide provides photo service during the walk and speaks English or Japanese. Pickup is included. The route is wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are available nearby if you need them.
