The experience

You start at your hotel and spend the full day in a private, air-conditioned minivan that doesn't move on to another group. The driver speaks English and knows Tokyo well enough to answer questions and help you plan stops as the day unfolds. You're not locked into a fixed route: before you leave or as you go, you choose which neighborhoods matter most to you. Senso-ji Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in the city, sits in Asakusa with its iconic Kaminarimon Gate and the traditional Nakamise shopping street. Shibuya Crossing is the world-famous intersection where thousands of people cross at once, with the Hachiko statue nearby for photos. Ginza is the upscale shopping and entertainment district with modern architecture and luxury stores. Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree are both exterior photo stops (entry tickets are separate if you want to go up). Harajuku's Takeshita Street is a colorful pedestrian strip full of youth fashion and Japanese pop culture.

The itinerary also includes the Imperial Palace area, where you walk around the Nijubashi Bridge and see the traditional stone walls and gardens (the inner palace is closed to the public). Tsukiji Outer Market is a lively place to walk through fresh seafood stalls, street food vendors, and kitchenware shops. If time and your interests allow, the driver can add stops at Meiji Shrine, a peaceful Shinto shrine in a forest; Akihabara, the anime and electronics district; Odaiba, the modern waterfront with Tokyo Bay views; or Kabukicho, Shinjuku's neon-lit entertainment area. The driver helps you fit the stops that matter most into the nine hours.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, as are parking fees. The minivan is clean and air-conditioned, and the driver provides introductory information about the city during the drive. Meals, snacks, and drinks are not included and must be purchased at the places you visit. Tipping is optional.
