Step-by-step itinerary
Kimono dressing and photo session
- Meet at Kita 34 Jo Station
- Choose kimono and accessories
- Dress and style hair
- Walk to Nakajima Park Japanese Garden
- Take photos in the garden
The experience
What does it mean to wear a kimono, and how do you actually put one on? You'll find out in a calm tatami space (or air-conditioned room in summer) after meeting your guide, Keiko, at Kita 34 Jo Station. The stylist walks you through kimono styles, formality levels, seasonal patterns and the stories woven into traditional designs, not as a lecture, but as context for what you're choosing and wearing. Men up to 6'11" and women up to 5'9" can be dressed. The collection includes options for both.
Once you're dressed and your hair is styled, you move into the second half of the experience: a leisurely walk through Nakajima Park to the Japanese Garden, where you'll spend time composing and taking photographs. The garden closes in winter, so the photo session adapts to what's available that season. All the images you take are yours: the stylist shares the photo data via Google Drive so you have them to keep.
The four-hour session includes private transportation to and from the park, the kimono and accessories, and the stylist's guidance throughout. Breathable summer kimonos are provided in warm months. You'll need to let the stylist know your gender when you book so the right collection is ready, and for women, soft bras work better than wired ones under the garment.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want a one-on-one experience with a stylist rather than a group session, and you're interested in learning the cultural context behind what you're wearing, not just the photo moment itself. The four-hour timeframe gives you both the dressing and styling in a calm space and a genuine walk through the garden to photograph yourself, without rushing either part.

Top questions
What happens if I've never worn a kimono before? Will the stylist teach me how to move in it?
The stylist dresses you and arranges your hair in the private space, then guides you through the park and garden for photos. The experience includes learning about kimono styles, formality and the meanings of patterns, so you understand what you're wearing as well as how to wear it.
Can I choose which kimono I wear, or does the stylist pick for me?
You choose your kimono from the stylist's collection in the dressing room. The stylist helps you select based on what appeals to you and what works with the season and occasion you have in mind.
How long do we spend actually photographing in the Japanese Garden?
After dressing and styling, you take a leisurely walk through Nakajima Park and spend time in the Japanese Garden composing photographs. The garden is closed in winter, so winter sessions adapt the photo portion to other beautiful spots in the park.
Do I get the photos afterward, or are they just for the stylist to keep?
The stylist shares all photo data with you via Google Drive after the session, so you have the images to download and keep.
What if I'm taller or heavier than the size range listed? Can you still accommodate me?
Kimonos are available for men up to 6'11" and 187.3 lbs, and women up to 5'9" and 165.3 lbs. If you're outside that range, message the stylist after booking to discuss options.
