The Experience

The morning starts at Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal or a meeting point you arrange in advance. You'll meet your guide, get fitted with a wetsuit (provided in winter), life jacket, fins and mask, then paddle into the Miyara River. This mangrove waterway is a designated national cultural asset—narrow channels wind through the trees, and the paddling itself is the point, not a means to somewhere else. You choose SUP or canoe at checkout; children aged 5 to 11 may be guided toward canoe depending on sea conditions and group size that day, since it sits lower and steadier in the water.

After the river, you paddle out to the Blue Cave and its surrounding snorkeling zone. The cave opening sits at water level, and you'll drift and swim through the shallows watching fish move through the rocks. This is not a deep dive or a long swim—you're in the water with a mask and fins, moving at your own pace while the guide stays with the group. The whole snorkel section happens in the same session; you don't change boats or wait between activities.

The activity runs four hours total, rain or shine. Afterward, hot showers are available near the terminal—ask your guide where. You'll receive the photo data from the day and a special offer page with coupons for local restaurants. The carbon-neutral fee is built into the price. Late bookings made after 5 PM meet directly at the terminal instead of a separate pickup point.
