The Experience

The day starts at Uehara Port or your Ishigaki accommodation, then a short ride brings you to the first field by 9:20. You'll shower at the office before heading back to Ishigaki, and the whole schedule is built around the ferry timing so you don't miss your return. Weather runs rain or shine unless conditions turn unsafe enough to cancel; the operator confirms details and meeting times the day before.

SUP and canoe both move through the same mangrove rivers, so the choice is about how you want to paddle—standing on a board or sitting in a boat. Either way, the snorkeling happens in the same water. Guides speak English or Japanese depending on the booking, though Japanese-only groups do run depending on how many people reserve. Bring clothes that can get wet, a change of clothes for after, and a towel; the office has a warm-water shower, but you'll need your own dry things before boarding the ferry back.
