The Experience

The Shinkansen is already pulling out of Tokyo Station by 7:15 AM, and you're in a non-reserved seat heading toward Nagoya. This package gets you from Tokyo to Ghibli Park in Aichi Prefecture without arranging separate tickets or transfers — the Shinkansen and shared bus are both included, and you pick up your physical tickets at Tokyo City i (B1F KITTE JP Tower, open 9 AM–7 PM) between three days and the day before you go. The timing matters: you need to board a bus from Meitetsu Bus Center by 9:30 AM to hit the 10:00–10:59 AM entry window for Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, which has a strict cutoff. Miss it and you don't get in.

Once you're at Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, your O-Sanpo Day Pass opens three areas: Ghibli's Grand Warehouse (the main draw, with life-sized sets and props from the films), Valley of Witches, and Mononoke Village. You move through them at your own pace — there's no guide, no fixed schedule after entry, just you and the recreated worlds. Some areas like The Okino Residence and Howl's Castle need separate same-day tickets you buy on-site, and a few zones (Hill of Youth, Dondoko Forest) aren't included, but the three main areas are enough for most of a day. The park closes at 5 PM on weekdays, 5 AM on weekends (check the official site for exact dates, as closures happen for weather and maintenance).

The return is straightforward if you book round-trip: catch a bus back to Meitetsu Bus Center by 5:30 PM (the last departure), walk to Nagoya Station, and board the Shinkansen whenever you want that evening. If you choose one-way, you're done at the bus center and free to head to Kyoto, Osaka, or anywhere else on the Tokaido line. Either way, bring your passport — entry staff check it, and you'll need it to collect your tickets. Luggage over 160 cm (height plus width plus length) doesn't fit in the non-reserved cars, so use a delivery service if you're traveling heavy.
