The experience

The boat departs from Ocho Rios Marina, steps from the cruise terminal. Your captain fits you with snorkeling gear (mask, fins, snorkel and flotation jacket) before heading to the main coral formations offshore. The reefs here teem with colorful fish: angelfish, trumpet fish, puffers and doctor fish move through the coral and flora. You spend time in the water viewing the formations and the marine life that lives there, then the boat moves to secluded coves and private beaches accessible only by sea. These spots are untapped snorkeling grounds where you can explore the water or lay on the sand and refresh from the boat.

The charter runs for a private group of up to 6 people, so you're not sharing the boat with strangers. Light refreshments come aboard. If you want to add Dunn's River Falls, a waterfall you climb by hand, that's optional and costs separate admission. The time spent there comes out of your boat time, roughly an hour. Cruise ship passengers need to provide ship name, cabin number, docking time and re-boarding time at booking so the captain can time your return.
