Private bamboo rafting on Jamaica's Great River pairs you with an experienced guide for 1.5 hours, with complimentary limestone foot massage from toe to knee included for women (men can arrange it in advance). The experience

The guide meets your group and walks you to the bamboo rafts at the river's edge. Two people per raft means you stay with whoever came with you (no splitting up or mixing with strangers), and a small child can ride along with two adults. The guide poles the raft downriver while talking through the history of the community, the river and Jamaica itself, and you move at the pace that suits your group. The limestone massage happens during a stop partway through: women get it complimentary from toe to knee, and men can request one in advance (the guide arranges a female masseur at an additional cost).

The river stop is where the day opens up. Swim if you want to. Photograph the water, the limestone cliffs, the vegetation. Buy jerk chicken, jerk pork, coconut water, fresh fruit or alcoholic drinks from people in the community who sell from the riverbank. Play music from your phone through the captain's Bluetooth box. If you're celebrating something (a birthday, honeymoon, graduation or anniversary), tell the operator when you book and they'll have balloons, flowers and a banner waiting. Groups of 10 or more get rum punch or coconut complimentary. The whole experience runs 1.5 hours, or slightly longer depending on group size and how long the massage takes.

Private transportation is included, and the vehicle is air-conditioned. You can arrange pickup from Montego Bay hotels, the cruise port, an Airbnb, or from specific resorts like Royalton, Coral Spring, Eden Bay, Grand Palladium or Round Hill: the operator lists the options at checkout. If you'd rather arrange your own transport, that option is available too. Infants and small children can come in a pram or stroller, and specialized infant seats are available. The guide speaks English and stays with your party the whole time.
